Launched in 2015, she is a sister to the rest of the Viking Ocean fleet: every stateroom has a private veranda, there is no casino and no guest under 18 aboard, and the fare is inclusive, covering Wi-Fi, beer and wine at lunch and dinner, and a shore excursion in every port.

About Viking Star
Viking Star is one of Viking's near-identical all-veranda ocean ships, carrying 930 guests on a 745-foot hull built for calm, destination-focused sailing. The small scale lets her dock directly in ports that larger ships cannot reach.
Best for: Curious, independent-minded adult travelers who care more about the destination than onboard spectacle and want an all-inclusive fare with no nickel-and-diming. Best for couples and solo travelers who want enrichment, long port-heavy itineraries, and a calm, elegant ship with no children, no casino, and no formal nights.

What to know before you book
Cabin tips
Because every cabin is a veranda cabin, the entry-level Veranda Stateroom (270 sq ft) is already a balcony room and the best value on the ship. Step up to a Penthouse Veranda (338 sq ft) for more space, or an Explorer Suite for a separate living area. The single Owner's Suite (1297 sq ft) is the top cabin. There are no interior or ocean-view-only cabins to screen out.
Dining
Dining is included with no surcharges. The Restaurant is the main venue, World Cafe is the buffet, Manfredi's serves Italian, and The Chef's Table runs a rotating multi-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Mamsen's, in the Explorers' Lounge, serves Norwegian specialties, and room service is included.
Entertainment
Evenings are calm by design. The Star Theater hosts talks, music, and classical performance rather than large production shows, and a resident historian and guest lecturers anchor an enrichment program built around the destination. There is no casino on any Viking ocean ship.
