Frequently Asked Questions

Which cruise lines have a luggage weight limit?
Carnival (50 lb / 23 kg per bag), Cunard (50 lb / 23 kg per bag), MSC (50 lb / 23 kg per bag), Norwegian (50 lb / 23 kg per bag). The remaining lines publish no per-bag weight limit and instead ask for a reasonable amount of luggage that fits in your stateroom.
How many bags can you bring on a cruise?
Most major lines that set a count allow two checked bags per guest. Several lines set no strict number at all, asking only that your luggage be a reasonable amount you can store in your cabin. Baggage liability caps (often two to three bags) are a separate matter from what you are allowed to bring.
Does a carry-on count against your cruise baggage allowance?
No. The bag you carry aboard yourself at embarkation is separate from checked luggage. Keep medication, documents, valuables, and a swimsuit in it, because checked bags are delivered to your stateroom hours after you board.
